Addendum: Rare Swords

Good evening, class.

One of your peers pointed out that I missed a few important swords for Blue Mage during yesterday's lesson. Let's begin.

Tinyc
  • DMG: 44 Delay: 240: This is a relatively high delay sword, but still boasts a solid 11.00 DPS. If you wanna attack faster, a lower delay sword would be better, but the myth that this sword has "lower TP return" is utter nonsense.
  • Accuracy +4: 1 less than Perdu under 100% TP or Erlking. Not much to lose sleep over, especially if you have Homam.
  • MP +20, Magic Accuracy +2: See, there was a time where Magic Accuracy actually meant something; +2 used to be a big deal. However, now that Erlking can give as much as +6, this effect is pithy. Yes, the MP boost is welcome, but overall, the stats do not warrant the effort/cost to obtain this weapon when Erlking has better DPS and stats.

Tinyc
  • DMG: 45 Delay: 288: Huge delay on this thing, which is the killer for this weapon. The DPS on this sword approaches Dagger levels and it's slow as all hell. Admittedly, this is the highest DMG weapon BLU can WS with, but it's by no means warranted.
  • INT +4: Expiacion. That's about it. If you're going to talk about magic, get a staff. No, I do not believe "nuking" is justified without nuking gear.
  • Accuracy +8: Like Shiva's Claws, this weapon has an absolutely absurd boost to accuracy, which is the selling point for it. However, this accuracy can be furnished elsewhere while 2.8 DPS cannot.
  • Shield Skill -5: Lol, does that give BLU -5 Shield Skill overall? I wonder what negative skill is like.
  • Latent effect: ice damage: Quite badass, but ridiculously situational. How often do SMNs keep Shiva out for extended periods of time? Too bad Rush is so lame.

Tinyc
  • DMG: 42 Delay: 236: As a mage sword, this thing's DPS isn't supposed to be great, and even then, it's still better than a lot of swords BLU can use. Regardless, its DPS is completely exonerated by the effects listed below.
  • Magic Accuracy +10: Heart. How lovely to have a butt ton of Magic Accuracy on a sword. With the aftermath effect, you could probably land most breaths easily and some debuffs, though nukes I still adhere to the idea that you really should be using a staff.
  • Occ. converts damage dealt to MP: Oh, yes. The effect works out to be about 3 mp/tic, which constitutes a private Refresh effect, and what's more, it comes in bursts, not tics, which is more useful for casting overall. Combine this with gear/region/trait refresh (3), RDM Refresh (3), and/or BRD/COR Refresh (3), and you're recovering MP like a BLM with a Claustrum.
  • Aftermath: increase acc./magic acc.: Lame. I like the +magic acc effect, but the accuracy effect is mostly superfluous. BLU needs accuracy like crazy, but come on; if you managed to get this far, accuracy is no longer an issue. Even with capped accuracy, multi-hit spells or WS will still have a maximum of 77% accuracy (5-hits). That and IF you are DDing anything remotely IT++, you need some better damage to pierce defense; all 5 hits landing is absolutely moot if you deal 100 damage and feed the mob 50% TP...
  • Occasionally attacks twice: Really? Blue Mage got a Joyeuse/Ridill? Wow yty, SE. Even with not-so-hot DPS, this sword ultimately pwns all other options because of this effect, both in terms of DoT and TP gain. That and the MP effect more than likely procs on this, making it even more badass.
  • Hidden Effect: Pwn?: I don't know if Tizona has this effect like the old relic weapons, but if it does, good golly, Miss Molly...
Lesson for today: start whoring Salvage. Good night, class.
